Who is Risk Labs?

Risk Labs is the foundation and core team responsible for building and growing the UMA and Across protocol ecosystems.

What is UMA?

UMA’s optimistic oracle (OO) can record any verifiable truth or data onto a blockchain.

  • Purpose: UMA is the canonical source of truth that blockchains use to verify real-world data.

  • Vision: UMA enables any verifiable truth to be recorded on-chain, trustlessly.

What is Across?

Across is a cross-chain bridge for L2s and rollups secured by UMA’s OO.

  • Purpose: Across fulfills crypto’s potential by making blockchains more usable, accessible, and efficient.

  • Vision: Intents are the standard in cross-chain interoperability, and they are settled by Across.

The Role

We’re hiring a high-agency Senior Product Engineer who can decide what to build—and then build it. You'll take full ownership of a significant slice of our user-facing experience: shaping product hypotheses, running experiments, collaborating with design, and writing high-quality frontend code.

You’ll also provide light leadership (e.g. leading a small pod, sprint management), while championing high standards in code quality and UX.

This role is perfect for someone who identifies as a senior frontend engineer with a product mindset, someone who’s just as comfortable owning KPIs as they are shipping clean React code.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end product ownership: Frame problems, propose solutions, scope experiments, implement features, measure outcomes, and iterate (or sunset) accordingly.

  • Frontend engineering leadership: Write reliable, maintainable, well-tested code. Drive product enhancements, migrations, and ongoing refactors to keep the codebase healthy.

  • Experimentation & analytics: Set up and run A/B tests or feature flag experiments. Define success metrics, instrument tracking, and interpret results to drive product decisions.

  • Quality advocacy: Raise the bar for code quality, reliability, and developer experience. Push for sustainable velocity and challenge unrealistic timelines when needed.

  • Project & people management: Coordinate cross-functional work, manage scope and timelines, and mentor or lead a small frontend pod.

  • Design partnership: Collaborate with designers to shape UX flows and micro-interactions. Bring polish and product “taste” to the final product.

  • AI-enabled productivity: Use AI tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality. Suggest and evaluate new tools or frameworks when beneficial.

Requirements

  • Senior-level frontend expertise: At least 4 years of industry experience, with a strong focus on React.

  • Product thinking & intuition: Proven ability to define problems, prioritize solutions, and own product KPIs end-to-end. You bring strong opinions but are open to new information.

  • User-centric approach: You analyze user behavior, talk to users, form hypotheses, and iterate quickly based on outcomes.

  • Experimentation fluency: You’ve run A/B tests, prototyped rapidly, measured results, and made confident decisions to ship, pivot, or kill features.

  • Leadership & ownership: Experience mentoring engineers and/or leading projects or teams.

  • Excellent communication: Clear, concise, and collaborative in both written and verbal communication.

  • Autonomy: You’re self-motivated, accountable, and capable of generating high-impact work independently.

Preferred Experience With:

  • React (strongly preferred)

  • Viem

  • Ethers.js

  • TypeScript

  • Next.js and Vercel

  • Solidity / EVM (nice to have)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD

  • Equity/token options: Participate in voting rewards and long-term upside

  • Payment in stablecoins or fiat

  • Remote-first culture: Work from wherever you're happiest

  • Flexible vacation and family leave policies

  • Professional development: Support for training and growth

  • Team offsites: At least two per year
