The Tax Associate Manager will be an integral part of the Coinbase tax operations team supporting the day to day operations of the global tax function. This role will primarily focus on tax matters for North and Latin America (US, Canada, and Brazil), including income tax filings and the financial statement tax provision. This individual will also work closely with the broader Coinbase Finance function and help with initiatives for continuous process improvements.

The Coinbase tax operations team ensures that Coinbase complies fully with its tax obligations in all of the jurisdictions in which Coinbase operates. This includes providing for taxes accurately and completely in its financial statements and supporting business operations to ensure an optimal and efficient tax structure. We are a team passionate about tax and crypto, and we are looking for an ideal candidate to join our world class team!

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): To be completed by all business teams except Eng.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provisions required under US GAAP (ASC740 experience) and local reporting standards
  • Prepare and review journal entries during the tax close process for posting in Netsuite
  • Manage the tax calendar and ensure timely completion of tax filings and payments for the Americas (US, Canada, Caribbean, and Brazil)
  • Perform account reconciliations to support current tax and deferred tax balances at the end of each reporting period
  • Support internal audit team’s review of the income tax provision and ensure SOX compliance
  • Be the subject matter expert and go to person for OneSource Tax Provision (“OTP”) software
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing calculations of BEAT, CAMT, GILTI, FDII and R&D Credits
  • Assist with the review of monthly transfer pricing calculations

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): To be completed by all business teams except Eng.

  • 5+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally with a mix at both a Big 4 accounting firm and in industry
  • Significant experience with the preparation and review of tax returns
  • Technical tax experience
  • Excellent speaking and communication skills while working with business teams and explaining tax concepts to both tax and non-tax audiences
  • Outstanding detail-orientation and process-orientation skills
  • Collaborative and positive orientation
  • Willingness to pivot and learn

Nice to haves:

  • CPA or MST preferred
  • Experience with One Source Tax Provision and Tax Compliance
  • Crypto industry experience
