We are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. This role will report to the Controller and be a key position in the growth and development of the finance function. This position offers a hybrid work environment, although it is essential for the successful candidate to be based in Miami.

The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, be proficient in NetSuite, and excel in a fast-paced environment where managing multiple priorities is the norm. We are seeking a self-starter who thrives both independently and as a collaborative team player.

This is a hybrid role; reporting the Miami office 3 days- week

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including journal entries and ledger entries.
  2. Monitor daily financial transactions and ensure they are recorded correctly.
  3. Manage the accounts payable process, including timely processing of invoices and payments.
  4. Handle accounts receivable, tracking customer payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
  5. Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  6. Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
  7. Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  8. Generate ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed to support decision-making.
  9. Assist in tracking and categorizing expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies and budgets.
  10. Assist with audits and examinations as necessary.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
  12. Implement best practices in financial record-keeping.
  13. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, to streamline financial processes and achieve company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in private equity or startup financial roles.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel and ERP systems.
  • Netsuite experience and certification are highly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and local tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide strategic financial guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be located in Miami, FL and available to work in the office three days a week.
