Dynamic. Yellow Card is a high-growth start-up and roles within Yellow Card evolve at a rapid rate. The specific job duties of an Operations Manager / Country Manager will shift over time as the needs of the company evolve.

Not Uniform. Every country is unique. Yellow Card’s capabilities and position in each market are distinct. The individuals serving in Operations Manager and Country Manager roles have different backgrounds and skill sets.Therefore although some duties are consistent across the continent while others will vary.

Duties may be shared. As the company grows in some markets the duties might be shared with an external consultant or second operations manager. In this case each individual should make sure that their supervisor specifies who takes the leading or supporting role regarding each area of responsibility.

Emphasis will shift with local capabilities. As we develop new capabilities, for example mobile money integration, the emphasis will likely shift.

Key Duties

  • Establish and protect the Company’s ability to operate
    • Company registration, licensing
    • Bank relationships
    • Office space or virtual address
    • Identify F/X partnerships (if needed)
    • Tax compliance
    • KYC parameters
  • Represent the company externally
    • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the company, its products, and its client base
    • Lead or participate in discussion with regulators in markets where visible interaction with the government if part of the market strategy
    • Network with the local blockchain and FinTech communities
    • Develop relationships with large traders and mass market customers, support fraud victims to the extent possible
  • Represent the country and our local customers internally
    • With customer service
    • Marketing
    • Engineering
  • Contribute to enhancing our local capabilities
    • Identify and engage potential integration partners especially those providing load / unload partners and those willing to code to Yellow Card’s API
    • Manage the local relationship with multinational partners such as Mobile money networks
    • Where applicable manage relationships and oversee marketing execution with 3rd party store/agent networks
  • Grow the business by recruiting larger customers (Tier 2 and Tier 3)
    • Directly engage with larger traders, trading groups, investors and companies involved in crypto, answer questions and ensure their needs are met by the company
    • Operations/Country Managers will directly manage these relationships
  • In partnership with Marketing engage the mass market (Tier 1)
    • Assist Marketing as they localize mass marketing activities including digital advertising, public relations, social media campaigns and more
    • Using frameworks, toolkits or other packages developed primarily by Marketing and others execute local engagement programs including events, brand ambassador programs and more
  • Assist with recruiting, managing and supporting local personnel depending on function
    • Where needed lead recruiting efforts for customer service, interns, brand ambassadors
    • Directly manage interns and brand ambassadors, assist with customer service
    • Where needed support the needs of in-country Yellow Card personnel in Marketing, IT or other functions; example - health insurance
  • Contribute to the team

    • Communicate in a fashion that is respectful and well understood
    • Collaborate with your peers to collectively think of innovative ideas that drive business through technology
    • Build and utilize working relationships with internal business partners across the organization and external business contacts
